We're passionate about supporting, developing and empowering the local community. The BestLight Community Hub is a wonderful historic building in the centre of Nelson town that seeks to bring the community together through a range of educational, sports and health and wellbeing project. We're seeking donations to help improve our sports provision, create a fantastic sports arena, with new lighting, flooring and changing rooms to promote sports and fitness. The current space is very 'officey' as the building was previously Council offices. We will also create a new Archery Club for young people and adults. The new space will be a beautiful addition to local facilities welcoming all sections of the community.

Why it's a great idea:
The BestLight Community Hub already benefits more than 200 families a weekand the new sports hall will only add to this number. Young people will benefit from local provision, new sports including archery and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, women will benefit from regualar yoga and zumba classes. Local organisations will be able to hire the space to delvier sessions to their groups.

VolunteerThe LightBeam Academy supports over 200 families a week in various activities including understanding mental health, learning the Arabic language, holiday clubs, supporting local foodbanks and hospices, Ladies socials, Archery, Mother’s and toddler’s groups, ESOL Language support, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, canoeing, Functional Maths courses, Ladies only fitness classes, trips for families to local farms and activity centres. Our activities support all sections of the community from babies to 70-year-olds, mainly from deprived backgrounds, many of whom actively take part in project design and development.
Project Owner: The LightBeam Academy The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
