The creation of a community astro at Cantley Park would serve as a football base for the whole local community and beyond. We currently run sessions for 400 4-18 year old boys and girls from the local community. These sessions comprise of a free session for 4-6 year olds. 3 all girls teams, numerous mixed sessions for boys and girls aged 7-18 year old and a summer tournament engaging 7000 people over a weekend in June. Future plans are to offer pan disability sessions, extra all girls sessions and further events to engage the community.

Why it's a great idea:
The project is in line with the local football facilities development plan and the mayors get Doncaster moving campaign. We are currently the only Community Charter Standard Football Club in Doncaster and this is the highest standard a grassroots club can currently achieve. Our growth has been recognised by the Football Association and we are one of only 5 clubs in the Sheffield and Hallamshire region to be invited to take part in this project.

VolunteerBessacarr Football Club was originally established in 1981 by Tony Roberts & Brian Ward. Little did they know the small acorn of the U12s team they created would grow into a major oak.
Fast forward 37 years to the 2019/20 season where the club will field 30 teams, around 400 Doncaster children playing league football in the DDJSFL, DSAFL, DRSL and SHGFL. Our clubs development plan has been written to incorporate a competitive edge to the club while still maintaining our commitment to the development of all our players, we are now not only the biggest club in Doncaster but also the only Charter Standard Community Club in Doncaster too. We are committed to continuing our growth in the community and future plans include extra girl’s teams, U21s team and a senior first team playing in the Saturday county leagues. Due to the hard work put in by our committee members and retaining our Charter Standard Community Club status year on year we have been invited to take part in a pilot scheme which will hopefully see some major changes around the club over the coming years. We are the only club in Doncaster to be offered this privilege and one of only 5 clubs in the whole of the Sheffield and Hallamshire region, no other club in Doncaster will have this opportunity for at least the next 3 years. We have of course signed up for this.
Bessacarr FC ensures mandatory FA recognised coaching, safeguarding and refereeing training for all our volunteers involved in the club. Our volunteers include players from the older age groups who are keen to become involved and give something back, maintaining the Bessacarr FC DNA for our future stars.
We are determined to continue our growth within the community, our partnership with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and our local community groups is key to our success in providing football and other activities for all in a safe & enjoyable environment.
The club is run solely by volunteers and relies heavily on fundraising to compliment the annual subs we charge. Yearly events like the sponsored run and our annual tournament help us to achieve our targets year on year. Keep your eye on your emails for details on how you can help us out with these activities.
