We want to provide opportunities for those 8-11 year olds in the local community to start their cricket journey who may never have played cricket before or, having had the experience of our All Stars programme, wish to learn to play Dynamos cricket by registering on our Dynamos coaching programme as a complementary alternative to our other coaching programmes to help maintain their love of playing cricket and make friends in a safe and fun environment. To achieve this we need to recruit and train new volunteers and help train up existing volunteers to give them the skills and confidence to help with the delivery of Dynamos at Belbroughton Cricket Club and the tools to organise Dynamos cricket matches at the club and against other Dynamos clubs in a fun and relaxed environment. The training the club plans to fund includes not only coach education but also paying for courses such as first aid and safeguarding.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Dynamos coaching programme and "countdown cricket" games played at the end of each session will appeal to local children who will benefit from structured skill zone development sessions but do not yet have the confidence to play hard ball cricket. We will engage a professional coach to lead the sessions who can be shadowed by our volunteers to help with their development. Our Dynamos cricket initiative encourages each participant to be a team player, to win and lose with good grace, develops social skills and gives them some fresh air to play in a fun and safe environment at a family friendly village cricket club. Recruiting more coaching assistants and developing the skills of our existing volunteers will allow us to expand the programme to more 8-11 year olds and to use the human resource in our complementary coaching programmes which are available on different days/times at Belbroughton CC. Our project will encourage individuals to volunteer with confidence.
