We would like to build a brand new community play ground, but with a difference, we intend to include an outdoor gym zone, a climbing wall, under 5's secure zone and a story telling area. All of these areas will be part of Burnside Community Garden & Community Hub, and this charity will be arranging the positive engagement activities which will be available to individuals, families, schools and other community groups

What we'll deliver:

• Trim Trail - Tyre walk double balance beam barrel tunnel rattle bridge monkey bars cross over chain walk
• Climbing Poles -Large timber poles with hand and foot holds for climbing
• Climbing Wall - Rock face effect climbing wall for use by all ages and abilities
• Infants Tower Unit - timber decked play tower with stainless steel slide blackboard firepole climbing wall
• Jungle Rope climbing System - timber 2 platform climbing structure with rope suspension bridge, scramble net
• Mount Fuji Scatter logs Climbing System - a unique climbing experience every time its used
• Nature trail - A selection of natural tree stumps & granite boulders creating a pathway trail to be enjoyed by all ages
• Sand Pit - Timber edged sand pit
• timber double cradle swing, large Swing Frame with two seats for multi person use.
• Timber fence to enclose the playground so not to attract anti social behaviour and vandalism
• Timber picnic benches - Ideal for hot sunny days, somewhere for the parents to sit and socialise

Why it's a great idea:

This is a much needed addition to the outer west ward of Newcastle upon Tyne at present there is no playgroup within a 5 mile radius. The charity have held community consultation and this was at the very top of priorities the community wanted to see happen within their area.

the playground will bring the community closer together by providing a safe and social area to engage with each other.

The playground will introduce a sports and fitness program and allow local people to work out and get fit, we do have a get fit program in place for young people but want to widening the program to all age groups.

The playground will be a excellent addition to the core project, this being the regeneration of the Burnside community green and shops.

Steps to get it done:

• local residents will be recruited
• Youth Ambassadors and youth group will take a huge role in the design process and some of the finishing off jobs
• We have a design and construction company taking on the full project

The Playground is just one part of a much bigger community lead project that is regenerating and transforming their own community.
