My project offers the opportunity for local folk to come and enjoy a night of live music, song & dance while finding out more about my Keep Calm & Sing Group! This group is about Better Breathing via singing. It is a place where people can experience the positive health benefits of re- learning how to breath 'correctly' via breath work exercises used for singing. There is FUN to be had in the preparation of singing and song performance at workshops which are held every two weeks, with the added aim of bringing people together to promote my Keep Calm & Sing Group at a themed jumpjive event. Participants of the workshops prior to the event, are invited to perform at the event, if they feel happy to. The event and the workshops leading up to the event combine two wonderful art forms...song and dance!

Why it's a great idea:
The aim of the Keep Calm & Sing JumpJive event is to promote my Keep Calm & Sing group which encourages Better Breathing. My Keep Calm & Sing group is a place people can sing out while being encouraged to breath correctly. Better Breathing is the inspiration behind this project. Breathing...the most natural thing in the world, yet according to psychologist and researcher Dr Belisa Vranich, many of us spend most of our lives breathing incorrectly and there is a connection between bad breathing and a whole host of ailments. I personally know people who suffer with migraines & headaches, asthma, acidity in the body and low energy levels and I would like them to consider trying to improve and re-learn how to breath correctly. Dr Vranich says improvements can be achieved in just two weeks.; she came across research showing how breathing exercises used by singers could improve well being and performance. Other studies found that breath work helps boost memory,reduce stress and depression.
Steps to get it done:
As a professional vocalist with many years of experience in the music business, I have the skills and a wealth of experience to deliver this project. I am also a qualified teacher, trained to deliver singing workshops. I trained at Goldsmiths University and achieved a post- graduate Certificate In Workshop Skills plus I have a PTLLS teacher training qualification. I also have good contacts to bring in another instructor [ ie in Tia Chi or yoga ] for some workshops in terms of Breathing warm ups. I am also experienced in delivering high quality live events. My biggest to date was a closing event for 2012 Olympic Games, where I joined forces with SuperAct and Our Big Gig plus worked with Westminster Council.
