Lilena & Pentree Lodge have two homes in Newquay that aim to rehabilitate mentally unwell individuals to become self-reliant, boost self-esteem, daily living skills & manage emotions surrounding mental illness in hope to move on to less supported living/live independently. However, once individuals leave our care, we find they are at a high risk of relapse, hospital re-admittance, re-offending, substance abuse etc all of which can prove a high cost to the NHS, limits bed vacancies & increases homelessness, crime rates which in turn increases community vulnerability. Lilena & Pentree Lodge Care Homes would like to offer an outreach team service that provides early intervention tools & skills to lessen the risk of such points highlighted above. Also, maximize security for the individual & surrounding community, provide sustainable mental health for those leaving 24hr care support & living independently.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It reduces the impact on short-staffing levels can have on a mentally unwell individual, due to carers not having the time to fully emotionally support the individual. Reduces risk of crime, homelessness & boost volunteering/paid work opportunities for individuals, as the aim is to also get such individuals back into work & community projects in order to make a positive contribution to society & local community. Could potentially free-up emergency services, available beds, reduce individuals risk to seek support out of county away from their support circle. Costs within the NHS could reduce in terms of; emergency services, medication, re-admittance to hospital for not just mental health, but physical health also. If an individual had an obsession with food, their is a high risk that without support this individual could become: Diabetic, obese, which can prevail further detrimental problems such as heart disease, amputation, social exclusion & self harm.
