The project is the rebuilding of the Sports Pavilion situated in the Recreational Ground in Ashbourne. The new Pavilion will provide up to date facilities, including four new changing rooms that meet the national sporting club requirements, there will also be a catering kitchen bar and large surrounding outdoor patio overlooking the playing fields. The new Pavilion will provide a new community venue that will be used by local schools as a sports learning facility, a centre for community awareness and engagement including a new ‘youth zone’ to engage disengaged youth through sport. The Pavilion will also provide public areas suitable for a variety of uses from local events to a computer area for young people who at present do have access to this outside of school and many more community opportunities.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our project is to support the whole of the community of Ashbourne inclusive of gender, abilities and all ages from Primary School onwards in promoting the benefits of been involved in sports with a new facility. We will encourage the youth and other residents of Ashbourne who are not currently active in sport to be engaged and participate. The project will also ensure future support to the existing clubs that use the facilities and encourage others to be part of a team.
Steps to get it done:
The Ashbourne Sports and Community Partnership is a recently registered Charitable Organisation that has been created to enhance and improve the current sporting and community learning facilities within the town. The Board has members from local residents, representation from local sports clubs, Schools, Parish Council and District Council who have all come together to rebuild the existing Pavilion which is currently unfit for purpose
