This project was funded on 29 Oct 2020!

We have just completed an accessible toilet on the allotment and now want to convert a container into a tearoom come clubhouse. This will be none-profit as the project is to promote friendships and connections in our local area of clubmoor. We want to give a haven for people with depression and anxiety, and also people suffering from loneliness. In February 2021 we will be launching a horticulture course that will take people from seed to compost teaching them sustainable growth which will be open for all. We are a diverse group with many nationalities calling Grandison allotments their home. We have had designs done which I provided a link for. We have a great team of volunteers who will help build the project but need funds for all the materials.

What we'll deliver:

  • convert existing container into cafe clubhouse
  • Buy and install kitchen and dinner equipment
  • teach people skills on how to build
  • create awnings and seating areas for outdoor resting place

Why it's a great idea:

Having a community space like this is key to creating friendships helping each other connect and feel better. Being in a natural space does wonders for your wellbeing lifting your mood and helping people ease depression and symptoms of anxiety. Walking through our gates is like entering a vegetable Narnia a safe gated area for children and families too. We run events from here and the local community benefit greatly, especially with vegetable giveaways. One of our plots, Plot 18 is a foodbank plot run by volunteers to supply fresh vegetables and fruit to the St Andrews network. We love being here and are like a big family we want to share this with more people why wouldn’t we. The course we will run next year is with our partners Myclubmoor and incredible edible clubmoor,

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying equipment and materials to install the job, also getting a Hygiene certificate
