We have received emergency funding which will cover the club’s overheads such as rent, utilities, insurance (£3,000 per year!), capital machinery financing etc. We also have to maintain the ground whilst it is not in use which involves materials cost and outside contractors. This is being done according to new safety guidelines set by the ECB.

VolunteerAllendale Cricket Club was formed in 1946 and is a member of the West Tyne League and the Northumberland and Tyneside cricket league. It is affiliated to Northumberland Cricket Board, West Tyne Senior Cricket League, Sport Tynedale and the English Cricket Board.
On 27th November 2018 Allendale’s 1st XI were formally admitted to the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League. This means we can offer our talented junior players a pathway to higher standards of cricket. The new equipment will play an important part in the club’s plans to develop talented young players.
Because Allendale is the only cricket ground in the area we do attract usage from the schools in the community; Allendale primary school and Whitfield first school. We also hosted county under 14 and under 15 fixtures for the past 5 years as the ground is seen as attractive from a natural beauty point of view and we have managed to produce excellent wickets.
The club runs weekly coaching sessions for our local schools. These have been established for 9 years and all parties are keen to continue them. We have also engaged the schools with the “chance to shine” initiative. Our club has a good standing within the local community and attracts local volunteers for projects such as fund-raising, ground maintenance and small development projects such as painting fences etc. We have previously hosted a “Kwik Cricket” tournament for Allendale schools and other schools within the Tynedale area. This was organised by parents from the schools and club committee members in conjunction with community sports leaders at North Country Leisure.
We regularly attend the West Tyne cricket development group where all clubs in the area meet on a quarterly basis to discuss the cricketing needs of the area. We have forged strong partnership with the local sports development provision, which has enabled us to develop further partnerships with the schools. We also hosted Northumberland County matches at Allendale such as U13 girls, U14 boys in 2016; senior over 50 and over 60 games. We were voted best ground by the umpires of the West Tyne League and were runner-up in the Northumberland Cricket Board ground of the year in 2016
