All the young people we spoke to felt that the lack of clarity around the lockdown presented challenges, not just for young people from their communities but for young people generally. The rules about social distancing felt overwhelming and difficult to remember and this led some young people to feel anxious when going outside. We are of the belief that sport has a unique ability to bring about transformation to the most complex of social challenges. Our positive and well targeted early sports and community interventions will divert vulnerable young people at risk of escalating from anti-social or challenging behaviour into committing crime. It creates community cohesion and helps breaking down barriers. Positive role models can play a big part in keeping young people out of trouble. We believe sport and movement have the power to help young people live positive futures and learn self-belief, self-control, discipline and life skills.

Why it's a great idea:
The benefits with our project will offer the children a sustainable future, trusting the community again having hope that people are still out there and there are not along building there self confidence and leaving a lot more in skills in football with mixed martial arts learning them understand of fighting and it’s not always the way to go. Making new friends and taking away the animosity between groups of teenagers.

VolunteerAbout the Project Creator
In today’s world we tend to interact and socialise through social media a lot. This football mentoring programme encourages social interactions to be done more in a face-to-face manner and deliver real time experiences. We’d like to encourage young people aged 7 - 18 to help each other, problem solve, support and communicate in a productive manner. With the All shades of life sports engagement programme, we provide an environment where young people have a safe, structured and consistent setup. They experience being part of team with every member of equal value, we’ll work together as a team to achieve our goals, support each other in reaching individual targets, and the young people leave with a new network of friends they didn’t have before. This works well, breaking down some of the postcode restrictions they have on themselves, which should start teaching them to respect the individual and not the postcode. We aim to train and educate our community by empowering the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people with self-confidence for them to gain skills and knowledge of SPORTS, this will prepare them for a progression into the particular sport and give them the necessary life skills that they will need. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be delivering covid-19 safe activities, that follow government social distancing guidelines and fully covid-19 risk assessed. Our sports and engagement project runs weekly with two 2hr session throughout the projects entirety and is seeking to engage with 87 young people, ensuring regular coach impact and motivation from excellent role models and supportive adults, there are awards and certificates presented at the end of the project and their self-esteem is supported and thereby increased, whilst being encouraged to continue in recreational or competitive activities.
