We would deliver quality music acts and everything that a mainstream festival is can offer. Stalls, food, music, daytime activities. Our festival will be different as we will be able to cater for any additional need. The site is flat and completely wheelchair friendly. It is an enclosed safe site. There are no flashing lights and the music is not uncomfortably loud. We will have BSL signers who sign to all the songs. We will have a specialist toilet (Mobiloo) with hoist and changing area. Assistance dogs are welcome and we will have a dog stop for them to rest and feed. Our aim is to create a Reading Festival type vibe but in a more accessible way for those who cannot access a mainstream festival and they can just be themselves.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The disabled community is often a closed and lonely one. Many people with additional needs are unable to experience a lot of what life has to offer. The project enables them to have that experience in a safe and controlled way. Many people with additional needs have carers - this festival allows them to come with their carers and give them a different experience. It also brings together similar groups and families in similar situations and allows therefore increasing support networks both professionally and on a family level.
