This project aims to educate professionals such as social services, the police, education, health and the community through delivery of a showcase put on by Calon ADHD Project Cap-CIC members collaborating with Volcano Theatre. Young people and families will be showing the highs and lows of ADHD ,pathway and prior to pathway through mediums of story, drama, art , poetry and song. For young people not wishing to take part in acting, they will be involved in the lighting, stage props, makeup, sound & advertising, so everyone has a place. There will be 10 -12 sessions working towards the final showcase. It will be held in Spring 2023.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project aims to educate professionals and the public highlighting the highs and lows of living with ADHD. ADHD is a very misunderstood diagnosis. By showing the realities as they are for young people and families themselves we aim to change the perceptions or misconceived ideas about ADHD and show people how best to understand, support and get the best from these young people, either in the workplace, at school or in the community. On a larger scale through better understanding, this could have marked improvement on y.p self esteem, confidence and mental heath. It could alleviate anxiety and depression, lead to better social skills and jobs, prevent isolation, drug/alcohol misuse, crime, teenage pregnancies and suicide.
Steps to get it done:
We aim to advertise and sell tickets with the proceeds and any monies made from any songs recorded or poems printed we hope to put this back into Non profit Community interest Company Calon ADHD Project CAP-CIC for future support to families and young people prior to pathway, on pathway and with diagnosis of Adhd, to attend regular activities, workshops and projects such as sport, holistic, art, music, drama environmental, nature, health and wellbeing, all boosting self esteem and confidence, preventing isolation and supporting mental health
