The Active Life Centre will hold a drop in centre one day on a Friday each week with a choice of fun, healthy activities that facilitate social interaction and integration. The group will select future activities and have freshly prepared nutritious lunch at the centre served by Volunteers who will support the running of the Centre. We wish to improve the life quality of isolated older people in The London Borough of Enfield through connecting them with their local community. Our objectives are to: reduce isolation, loneliness and depression; keep older people healthy & safe; facilitate wellbeing; a sense of belonging; raise levels of esteem; provide a network of people and relationships; a choice of activities and opportunities to meet other people; provide info about safety, public health, financial benefits; relevant information and signposting to local services.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Many people who will attend the Active Life Centre are recovering from circumstances that have forced isolation and depression on them, such as bereavement and major health difficulties as well as severe mobility problems. The project brings everyone together to enjoy the activities, have a chat, and enjoy a hot freshly cooked lunch.
