We have created a community group to raise awareness in our area about what individuals can do to mitigate the local effects of climate change. We are now looking for financial support for such things as publicity, venue, toilet and film hire, tools, plants, insurance etc so that we can maintain interest into the future. We have launched our project in September last year with a public film show funded by a small grant from one of the local parish councils and a stand, manned by volunteers, at a local event. We have self-funded subsequent events such as a litter pick and have bought some hedging plants to restore a hedge in a local resident's garden. Our primary aim is to inform local people about how we can all do our own little bit, however modest, to help the environment and also to involve young people (subject to safeguarding conditions) in interesting outdoor activities which will, we hope, demonstrate the importance of a healthy environment.

What we'll deliver:

  • Plant hedges and clean up ponds and waterways monthly
  • Hire venues and films quarterly
  • Mend signs and stiles on footpaths

Why it's a great idea:

Raising awareness and encouraging appreciation and valuing of the countryside

Steps to get it done:

  • Positive feedback from participants and volunteers
  • Rubbish cleared from x metres of pathway.
  • X waterways cleaned
  • X metres of hedgerow planted
