Chorley Women's Centre has been empowering women for over forty years. We are a well-established and deep-rooted local charity who has a long history of providing a safe space for women. Our main aim is to support and help women find solutions to their problems, so they feel empowered to help themselves. The centre is well known and recognised in the community as a place of safety and support for women and those who identify as women. They can walk in from the street with no appointment or referral and receive a warm welcome and a listening ear.
With experience and progression, we have evolved to offer many of our services to all gender identities. We are well regarded as the local hub for wellbeing, offering a holistic package of support, social inclusion, and empowerment.
One of our key offerings is free counselling; accessible to all in our community, men, women, and young people. We have three specialist services; Circle - supporting those impacted by domestic abuse, Release - supporting survivors of rape, sexual abuse and sexual assault and General - supporting all other emotional and mental health struggles.
All service users benefit from the wrap-around support that the centre offers including the 1:1 listening service, holistic therapies, support groups and a social space.
We use a trauma informed strength-based approach in all our work. We see each person as an individual and believe we each have many strengths and skills within us already. We have signed the pledge with Trauma Informed Lancashire and have a long history of working with local organisations to ensure our community receive the right service at the right time. We receive very positive feedback and are a trusted beacon in our community.
