Abbot House By Abbot House

We have six weeks to avoid closure and kickstart a new future for the famous pink building in Dunfermline! We can't quite jump the funding gap into the project. Please help!

Dunfermline Delivery stage

pledged of £5,522

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

We need £5000 to squeak through, and even more will be a fantastic bonus giving us a chance to invest in the plans.

What we'll deliver:

  • Upgrade the cafe and develop a new business plan for all trading activities.
  • Welcome several new young people into our employment and supported work scheme.
  • Run childrens' events, start craft workshops, run reminiscence sessions in the local sheltered housing.
  • Throw a magnificent (but cheap) 20th birthday party to start as we mean to go on.

Why it's a great idea:

Abbot House was a great idea 20 years ago, and it still is. It was a huge restoration project of a much loved building by the local community, and it is still run by the community.

Abbot House is a place of history and creativity, with school visits and children's activities, craft workshops, talks and heritage groups. It is a meet up place for local people, from the Dunfermline Dads to the Thursday knitters. We have around 60 volunteers, and support more than a dozen people re-entering the workplace, or needing a safe environment due to disabling conditions.

This little project is the bridge from the past into the future, and the 20th anniversary of its opening seems like a good moment to start. Our birthday programme is a mix of exhibitions, new works by young people, theatre, and children's activities - pretty much a year long street party.

We want a new lease of life for Abbot House. Your donation It will squeak us into the new season, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Steps to get it done:

  • £5000 will jump the immediate funding gap and give us a launch platform.
