Visceral Creative By Visceral Creative

We're creating a interactive theatre production on the subject of labelling that will engage our audience in a conversation around social politics. It's not all so serious though...

Visceral Creative is a new community organisation that is dedicated to expanding creative output in underrepresented communities. For our next show we will be focusing on the subject of labelling. We have 7 artists from various cultural backgrounds who will be sharing their stories through traditional dance, poetry, spoken word, traditional music and song. The story follows a narrative and will have audience participation through out, you'll be throughly engaged! Visceral Creative has been a volunteer led organisation and we have relied on our fundraiser event 'Vinyl Fantasy' to pay for our projects so far, but we have never raised enough to pay our anyone of our team. To create work to a high standard we'd like financial support.

What we'll deliver:

  • Insurance
  • Marketing costs
  • Rehearsal space
  • Website
  • Expenses for young interns
  • Filming costs
  • Payment for artists and the production team

Why it's a great idea:

This theatre production is important because in todays society there are so many divides between cultural communities and not enough celebration of diversity. We feel that this show will break down, stereotyping and barriers between communities and celebrate the beauty of diversity, also allow conversation around passionate issues. We feel that art is a great way to bring cultural communities together and share views and opinions on todays society and create positive and engaging theatre at the same time. We have a strong team of performers who will be sharing stories of their personal experiences of being labeled. Some funny and some startling. All of our performers will be sharing a range of traditional dances, such as indian classical dance, Korean dance. We'll have music from Iran, Africa and poets from Poland and Britain. This is a show that's unique and will create opportunities for you to engage in the social politics in the world today... and have fun while doing so.

Steps to get it done:

  • To create a performance at The Greenhouse in Stoke Newington on 29th and 30th September
