This project would deliver community based group classes specifically for primary school aged children who are accessing pupil premium. We would like to extend after-school lessons to them through our platform called It's Your Mojo. This program will increase accessibility of after-school lessons for children and give them an experience of varied activities helping them develop new skills and boost their confidence. Classes will be delivered by DBS checked tutors who are experienced in delivering online lessons. Lessons will be delivered virtually through screen and internet and will be moderated by 2 volunteers who would ensure safety and engagement of children in the lessons. Lessons will include art and craft, creative writing, singing, dance, yoga, mental maths and other creative subjects. We could deliver subjects like coding depending on our location. This program will create opportunities for volunteering and using public spaces for the benefit of community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will be an opportunity for families who cannot access/afford after-school lessons for varied activities. Children will have an opportunity to try different lessons based on their interest and it will lead to development of new skills. This project will help volunteers find the opportunity in their local area. Parents could easily volunteer their time to help run the lessons. Public spaces like libraries, scout hut could be used to deliver the lessons. Church hall or school hall could be hired as well. Children's art work could be used to inspire street art/murals or used in the borough as a marker of our children's creativity and inclusion. This project will benefit the Redbridge residents and once successful, it can be easily rolled out in other areas of Redbridge. If children cannot attend in person for any reason(parents at work etc), they could be given access to It's Your Mojo virtual lessons for them to access from home.
