We want to grow a greener Britain by creating or transforming green spaces across the UK.
We run a small centre with chickens, sheep and ponies for the children to come on booked visits to support their emotional and social development. The skills they learn while helping to care for the animals can be assessed and reported back to schools. Helping children cope and reach their full potential. There are many interventions that take place in school but these don't suit how each child will work through their issues. Sessions follow the children's own objectives. Maybe they would like to feed a lamb, collect some eggs or groom a pony ? The child guides the session and we reflect upon each visit for a few minutes at the end of a session through art or looking back at photos taken. The centre will never be busy and noisey . we are running a quiet , natural place where everybody who visits feels valued. Children will be invited to visit with their family so they can share the joy together.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Many children in Torbay will benefit from these sessions. Being out in all weathers , experiencing cold, wet, wind etc. Being close to nature , overcoming fears they may have with the animals. This will benefit their peers in school and family with who they will share a better relationship.
