Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Travel exhibition on tour will promote travel on foot as a means of improving the communities mental health and wellbeing, awareness of AONB, nature reserves and public footpaths. This will create a more sustainable, greener and healthier environment for people living in Suffolk. To create the exhibition I will work with a curated selection of spoken word pieces and interactive photographic images developed during three mini residencies in three different bothies in the UK. The exhibition will showcase how travel on foot can be beneficial for both the environment and the community. I will also give exposure to places in Suffolk which are off the tourist trail. The exhibition's will encourage people to take advantage of Suffolk's AONB, landscapes, walks and public footpaths that surround them. The exhibition will be first shown at an academic institution in Ipswich at the University of Suffolk in August and Town Hall, Ipswich in October and will then be taken on tour.

What we'll deliver:

  • Promote sustainable methods of transportation i.e. walking
  • Travel exhibition opening (Town Hall in October)
  • Travel exhibition opening (University of Suffolk in August)
  • Travel to bothies
  • develop and curate selection of spoken word pieces and interactive photographic works for exhibition
  • Exhibition goes on tour
  • Improve awareness of landscapes in and around Suffolk
  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Improve rural tourism

Why it's a great idea:

The exhibition's will not only benefit the community as a whole, it will also benefit every one of us living in Suffolk individually and encourage people to be more proactive in travelling to AONB, nature reserves and walking the public footpaths they live close by to. Travel, for us can be a means of escape, will benefit us socially, culturally and change the attitudes and behaviours of others surrounding issues in relation to the natural environments here in Suffolk.

Steps to get it done:

  • Marketing and promotion
  • Travel
  • Acquire equipment and resources
  • Collaboration with external agents and organisations
  • Evaluation and monitoring
  • Event delivery (Exhibition in August at University of Suffolk)
  • Event delivery (Exhibition in October in Town Hall, Ipswich)
  • Event organisation
  • Research

The exhibition's will support and raise awareness of issues surrounding the impact urban landscapes are having on the natural environment and how we can implement change by visiting places that are off the tourist trail, are maintained and treated with respect without the need to be commercialised.
