Last year the Council arboriculturalist confirmed that several of the trees in Springfield Road would have to be felled due to infection and damage, and that there were no funds to replace them. That work has begun, for all to see. However if residents can fund the cost of replacements the Council can commit to preserving the lost spaces for replanting, after works to remove old roots. The new trees would be a disease resistant variety, Aesculus Indica, an example can be seen in the photograph, above. Can you help? You can pledge a donation here, our target fund is £1950. Also volunteers will be leafleting all the households in the road, and calling to ask if people are prepared to offer something toward the project. What we'll deliver:

  • Plant six trees to replace those lost or endangered.

Why it's a great idea:

The only way to preserve the tree-lined character of our neighbourhood is by community action.

Steps to get it done:

  • Council removes roots and stumps of felled trees.
  • Identify and preserve planting sites until ready for planting.
  • Plant saplings to replace the lost trees.
