By Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen
To prepare for the influx of the residents of Sunderland who do not have suitable cooking facilities or gas and/or electricity as the winter approaches.
We are an independent charity, fully self funded providing free food four nights a week. We provide a good wholesome meal, along with fresh fruit and water each evening we are open. No one needs to be referred, we feed everyone who feels they need it. We have approximately 67 volunteers who regularly freely give their time to help the charity succeed. At present we feed around 80-100 people each night we are open, who do not have adequate cooking facilities, and we know this will increase as the winter and colder weather begins. We know this as we have been operating for just over 3 years and in the winter months our service numbers always increase substantially. Given the current economical climate we are expecting the numbers this year to be even greater. We need your help to purchase some new kitchen equipment to allow us to feed more people in need this coming winter.
