At Liverpool Cloth Nappy Library we hire kits of reusable nappies to help families reduce their reliance on disposables, save money and the environment. Covid-19 is impacting families in many ways- particularly financially and with scarcity of essential items such as nappies and wipes in the shops. Our Nappy Library is a valuable resource to help families deal with the impact of Covid-19 by increasing self-sufficiency and reducing costs. By using our kits and switching to reusables, a family will never run out of nappies for their baby. Reusable nappies can be passed down the family, or to friends with little ones- just 1 reusable nappy can save as many as 1300 nappies from landfill. A family switching to reusables can save as much as £500 between birth and potty training, with more children, the savings mount up. Liverpool Cloth Nappy Library is run by volunteers- local parents and carers who've made the switch and want to help other families discover the benefits of reusables.

What we'll deliver:

  • Newborn Nappy kits
  • Birth to potty nappy kits
  • Ensure running costs are covered for our volunteers

Why it's a great idea:

Up to 195 000 tonnes of nappy waste saved from landfill Each family who switches to reusables in some way (part time or full time) could save between XXXXX

Steps to get it done:

  • Purchase the nappies for the kits
  • Prewash and assemble the kits ready for hire
  • Promote the new availability across our networks and groups
  • Contact local family support services about our long term loans for vulnerable families
  • Provide flyers to family services to promote library use
  • Monitor the impact of the library via questionnaire given to families hiring kits
  • Produce an impact report for the nappy library
