Provide structured, accessible, beneficial sport and social opportunities on a long-term basis to enable women, girls and older people to become physically and socially active within their community.
Our programme will offer separate weekly activities for women and girls and older people. We'll provide a mixture of boxing based activity that is aimed at improving physical and mental wellbeing including circuit training, boxercise and working as a team activity. Within each session we will also focus on social interaction and participants getting to know each other, this will include catch ups before we start and also at the end of each session. The aim of the social sessions is not only that participants get to know each other but to also support them to become more confident and comfortable within the session/environment. As well as focusing on the health benefits we will also use this programme to raise awareness of other opportunities locally that focus on women/girls and older people. Our aim is to remove barriers & reach women, girls and older residents who are not engaged within their community, facing isolation and who are not active both physically and socially.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our programme will offer a much-needed sport and wellbeing opportunity within Tonbridge for many people who are not currently engaged within their community, more likely to be socially isolated and not physically active. We'll offer routine to a participant's weekly routine, opportunity to make and develop new friendships, learn more about what is available locally and become more physically and socially active on a long-term basis. Throughout delivery we will continually highlight the benefit of this programme to the local community alongside the many partners we are and will be working alongside. Especially targeting of those who are or have been isolated and not engaged within their community on a long-term basis. We will emphasis that this programme is for all levels of ability and will offer a warm and welcoming environment that will offer reassurance and support to those who are nervous or have concerns about becoming active again and more involved within their community.
