This project was funded on 19 Mar 2024!

You're planning what to do in the weeks ahead and you're able to turn to Blog Preston and know what's coming up, get inspiration for things to see and do in the city and also see faces and places that are working to entertain you. Blog Preston's arts and what's on coverage has in-depth and regular stories all about what's happening in the city. Kate Rosindale and Lisa Brown have their fingers on the pulse of every venue and event organiser in the city, and we've got a revamped what's on section that's easy to use on Blog Preston. And you've helped Blog Preston, as a community interest company, take a big step towards sustainability so we can keep covering what's happening in Preston for many years to come. We are pitching this to the Lancashire Culture & Sport Fund so if you help us by pledging, they could put in up to 50% of our target. Please consider pledging to help us to unlock this funding.

What we'll deliver:

  • More regular arts stories on Blog Preston
  • An upgraded what's on page on Blog Preston
  • Features about arts and events organisations in Preston
  • Around 3 stories per week/around 150 across a 12 month period

Why it's a great idea:

We'll make finding out what's on in Preston easy - from a new mum looking for a baby and toddler group to the arts enthusiast wanting to see an exhibition. For event organisers it will put Blog Preston at the heart of the city's what's on scene and ensure they have a way to put events in front of people beyond their own websites and social channels. We will unite and bring together the city's arts and what's on scene and ensure it has a place and a community to put events in front of online to then encourage and give inspiration for what people can do with their spare time and going out to support live events.

Steps to get it done:

  • Engage additional Lisa Brown stories about arts organisations
  • Upgrade Blog Preston what's on page
  • Encourage more events to be submitted to Blog Preston
  • One what's on story per day on Blog Preston, seven days a week

Blog Preston is a Community Interest Company and 2024 marks 15 years of reporting on the city. Being a CIC means any surplus we make is re-invested back into the community journalism we do.
