The Grange Moor Miniature Park project seeks to refurbush and bring back to life a site where residents can meet up and relax in the peace and quiet surroundings of nature in the centre of our village

Grange Moor Delivery stage

£30
pledged of £15,856

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The Grange Moor Miniature Park was established as part of the mining community of Grange Moor, but following the decline of coal this has lain unused for over 50 years. We are now looking to bring this back to life with laid out paths, borders and feature for plants, as well as a wild life section to attract birds and insects. The Park will be made accessible for all, including wheelchair users, and will be a place for residents to meet up with friends and other residents in a quiet and relaxing environment. Future maintenance will be kept to a minimum to avoid future generations having to spend unnecessary hours keeping the site clean and tidy. The site is in the centre of the village and easily accessed from all parts of the village, and there is nothing similar in the village. We are crowdfunding in order to lay out new pathways with tarmac.

What we'll deliver:

  • Laying out paths & tarmac

Why it's a great idea:

The Project will provide a central meeting point for residents to come together and share time in the peace and quiet of the Park in the centre of the village. We will be looking to make the Park low maintenance so no one, now and in the future will have to spend unduly large amounts of time to keep it clean and tidy. It will be pleasant to the eye and will be seen by passers by, the local bus service passes by the side of the Park and there is a bus stop just outside the gate so those waiting at the bus stop, and those on the bus, will be able to look out at the plants and trees spread around the Park

Steps to get it done:

  • Lay the new pathways

The Project whilst bringing residents together will form part of the Community Associations wider aims and plans of combatting loneliness in the village. There is a high proportion of residents over the age of 65 who are around the village every day, this Project will give them another Meeting Place
