The existing play area and equipment has been in situ for many years. The equipment is ageing and beyond repair. We intend to re-design the area and replace some of the equipment with more inclusive items. The area is used by an on-site nursery every day, and children from at least four local parish's and two local schools. The park is the only park in the parish and is very popular but as the equipment has aged children have become bored and are looking for more stimulating and challenging play, we hope that our project will re-vitalise the park and the children's interest. We are working with two well established play equipment company's on the project and we feel confident that we can deliver a modern and up to date area that will be used by the children of the parish for many years to come.
What we'll deliver:
- Re-design the complete play area
- Install new inclusive play equipment
- Bring the park up to modern day standards
- Stimulate and challenge young children in their play activities
- Protect and improve an asset in the parish
Why it's a great idea:
This park is one of the better parks in the area and has served the area well for decades, it has suffered from lack of investment for years due to financial constraints on the district council. The parish council feels that it has a responsibility to the parishioners to address the decline and deliver a play area to be proud of that will serve the children of the surrounding areas for years to come.
Steps to get it done:
- Placing orders with contractors
- Publicising the project in local schools and youth clubs
- Leafleting the Parish and local nurseries
We need to ensure that our children and future generations become more active and learn how to challenge themselves in play. Parks bring together families in all aspects of play and recreation and has long been a part of the British way of life. We have a responsibility to ensure that this continues in the future.
