There are two elements to the project;
1. Outdoor markets at the Commercial and Nomad Bar and Kitchen in Sterry Road Gowerton.
The markets will take place between 10.00am and 2.00pm on the three summer Bank Holiday Sundays; Sunday May 5th, May 26th and August 25th.
The markets will aim to bring the community together to provide a central area for the community to socialise and interact. At the market local musical & dramatic groups will perform giving an opportunity for local organisations to promote themselves in the community. There will also be activities provided that will be aimed at stimulating & providing creative and play opportunities for young people.
The footfall from these events will support local businesses.
Then between 1.00pm and 6.00pm there will be an Activity Day arranged to take place at the Athletic Ground on Victoria Road.
The aim would be to have a 'family day' with activities available to allow people of all ages to engage in physical & creative activities.
What we'll deliver:
- Outdoor markets at the Commercial and Nomad Bar & Kitchen on Sunday 5th May, Sunday 26th May and Sunday 25th August
- An Activity 'Family' Day at the Athletic Ground on Sunday 25th August
Why it's a great idea:
Aim:
The primary aim would be to put on 3 Bank Holiday markets a Family Activity Day & if possible, other events that would develop & strengthen the ‘sense of community’ in our village.
Other events include a tea party & a 'Songs ofPraise'.
The following 4 objectives are proposed:
To organise events that will allow all in our community to come together to strengthen and improve the social, emotional, physical, & mental wellbeing of those taking part.
To give all cohorts in our village an opportunity to engage in creative and/or physical activities but also to create occasions with an environment that enables all to engage in social interaction and to benefit from the well-being that that creates.
To support local businesses by increasing footfall in the village that will increase trade and as a result increase awareness of what our local businesses provide to increase their trade in the longer term.
To raise funds that can be used to support developments in the community.
